Hot Off the Press from the SurgeryU Board Meeting at the AAGL Global Congress in Vancouver

We are energized as we head into 2026 with a continued commitment to elevate surgical education and expand global access to MIGS learning. Thank you for being part of the SurgeryU community and for helping us grow, improve, and innovate.
A Strong Start to 2025
In the past year, we refreshed our user experience, introduced new channels, and soon to launched difficulty indicators to guide learners. Engagement continues to rise, and we are building additional tools that support surgeons at every stage of their training.
Major Platform Enhancements
New technology updates are being implemented to improve search, personalization, and global accessibility:
- An AI search engine that allows users to search within videos and identify specific steps, anatomy, or narration with accuracy.
- The ability to add overlay instructional banners directly on videos to highlight key points during teaching.
- A language selection dropdown for Congress-related content, enabling international users to select preferred language options.
Channel Expansion
MIGS Toolbox: Additional chapters will continue to roll out throughout the year with practical pearls for surgical safety and technique mastery.
Global Health Channel: Now updated with structured education folders and expert curriculum designed to improve access for underserved regions and expand the reach of MIGS learning worldwide.
Smarter Search and Personalized Navigation
AI-assisted indexing will enable more powerful discovery of videos by anatomy, instrument, surgical approach, complication, and skill level. Personalized playlists will improve suggested learning pathways based on the user’s role and history.
Contributor Tools
Content creators will benefit from streamlined features including auto-captioning, translation support, and built-in annotation templates that improve clarity and educational value.
Mind of a Surgeon: March Madness 2026
The annual video competition returns this March. Fellows will once again submit short three-minute narrated case videos to highlight surgical decision-making and creativity. Voting will take place on Instagram Stories, and the competition concludes in March.
Looking ahead to 2026, board-approved enhancements include:
- Each fellowship program will submit two videos: one three-minute entry and one 90-second entry
- Exploration of additional recognition for first- and second-place winners, potentially including monetary or award-ceremony acknowledgement during the Global Congress.
Thank you
Thank you for your support, engagement, and dedication to advancing minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. We look forward to another year of growth, innovation, and global collaboration. Continue exploring new content and updates at SurgeryU.com.
