Over the past three weeks, the “Mind of a Surgeon: March Madness” tournament took over the @surgeryu_aagl Instagram account in an electrifying showcase of global surgical talent. This year’s contest featured 23 FMIGS Fellowships from around the world, each submitting a 3–4-minute video highlighting innovative surgical techniques.
Tournament brackets were unveiled during a live Instagram event, setting the stage for 22 thrilling head-to-head matchups. Winners were determined by Instagram polls, with every vote bringing us closer to the ultimate champion.
The final showdown featured:

🔹 “Surgical Synergy: Mastering Non-Technical Skills in Laparoscopic Sacrocolpopexy” – Algia-Clinica Comfamiliar – ClĂnica Del Prado, Pereira & MedellĂn, Colombia
In a nail-biting finale, Algia-Clinica Comfamiliar – ClĂnica Del Prado triumphed with 1,327 votes to UCLA’s 1,159, clinching victory in the final hours of voting!
🏅 The winning fellowship will receive a custom trophy to commemorate their exceptional creativity, technical skill, and teamwork.
