Dr. Gordon and his wife, MaryIt was with great sadness that the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) reported the death of Alan Gordon.

In 1989 Professor Gordon, along with a small group of colleagues, founded the BSGE. He was their first president. In later years he continued his leadership in advancing MIS as president of the ISGE and the ESGE. He published on laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and gynaecological endoscopy. He occupied from 1965 to 1992 the position of consultant at the Princess Royal Hospital in Hull which he helped build into a center of advanced minimal access surgery.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary, and their three children: Catherine, Claire and Patrick.
