New AAGL Medical Director Announced at 47th Global Congress
In November 2017, following Dr. Franklin D. Loffer’s decision to retire from his long-term position as Medical Director for AAGL, the AAGL Board of Directors began the task of preparing to search for his successor. An updated and detailed job description was developed and a search committee was formed. Invitation letters were sent out to all eligible candidates and the committee set to work on diligently considering each interested respondent. Over the course of several rounds of judicious review, one name consistently rose to the top of a field of very talented candidates. And at the Business Meeting held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 during the 47th AAGL Global Congress in Las Vegas, Nevada, Dr. G. David Adamson, Chair of the AAGL Search Committee for Medical Director, had the esteemed pleasure of announcing that Dr. Linda D. Bradley had been selected, and accepted, the position.
Dr. Bradley is a true leader with passion for and dedication to the AAGL, having served as a past President of the AAGL, the first ever Chair of the Hysteroscopy Special Interest Group (SIG), and on the AAGL Anti-Harassment, Diversity and Incident Reporting task force, not to mention her significant contributions to the continuing education of our members as chair- cor-chair and faculty of many PG courses and labs over the years. She is eminently qualified to do honor to this important position and our community. Following int he footsteps of our first Medical Director, the venerated Dr. Loffer, Dr. Bradley promises to be inclusive, to thrive on intellectual challenges and problem solving, and to be a connector. Her vision is to work selflessly for the organization and with the Board to improve the care of the women we serve by hosting robust annual meetings/seminars, increasing the knowledge of our membership, fostering long-term relationships with other medical societies, garnering industry support, and influencing future governmental policies that affect women.
The AAGL Board would like to extend our profound appreciation to Dr. Loffer for originating the role of Medical Director. He has worked assiduously to formulate our organizational and medical policies and has been an ardent ambassador and inclusive leader throughout his 17-year tenure. We would also like to express our deepest appreciation for the dedicated work of the Search Committee and thank them by name: Drs. G. David Adamson (Chair), Ted Anderson, Michel Canis, Carlos Fernandez, Isabel Green, Kathy Huang, Pamela Soliman, Franklin D. Loffer, and Linda Michels.
