JMIG Year in Review and Associate Editor Call for Applications
2024 was an exciting year for the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology. Before we talk about applications for our 2025 Associate Editor positions, we would like to share some of our latest initiatives:
- Our Reviewer Spotlight highlights amazing JMIG reviewers, with personal insights into what they do (and don’t!) like about the Journal and their reviewing tips.
- We are launching both our overhauled Submission AND Manuscript Reviewer Guidelines to streamline, update and standardize these processes. Submitting a manuscript is now easier for our contributing authors and we are confident that our reviewers will appreciate the improvements to this process as well.
- Our Deputy Editors have been quite busy. Some of their initiatives include our new Virtual Collections with our first edition focusing on the Cutting Edge of Endometriosis Surgery led by Dr. Carla Tomassetti. Check it out at the following link: https://www.jmig.org/Endometriosis-surgery
- Mandy Yunker has forged a partnership with the Fellowship in MIGS to create a JMIG reviewer mentorship program. This pairs experienced and seasoned reviewers with FMIGS fellows to provide guidance and mentorship right at the beginning of their career. This program will create a pipeline of future reviewers and Editorial Board members!
- Mireille Truong has established an entirely new submission type promoting Simulation & Education initiatives in MIGS through a scholarly approach.
- Offering new ways for our readers to view our manuscripts via two distinct approaches: Visual Abstracts and JMIG Surgical Bites (an Associate Editor initiative with Dr. Siddhi Mathur).
These initiatives build on the foundation of our legacy setting former Editor-in-Chiefs, and JMIG is now in the top quartile of Obstetrics and Gynecology journals and maintains its number one ranking for journals devoted to Gynecologic Surgery.
