A Year at the Helm
With 12 months passing in the blink of an eye (that has nothing to do with our age!), so much has happened at JMIG already – and yet there is still so much more to come.
Now that we have had our feet under the desk for a year, the mid-year metric release confirms what we have always known – JMIG is a top tier Journal and continues to be the pre-eminent gynaecological surgical journal. Our CiteScore and Impact Factor metrics have increased our rankings within our discipline and for the first time we are now in the top quartile for both of these measures. We recognise that these numbers may seem somewhat arbitrary, but they do reflect quality. To all our authors, our reviewers, our dedicated Editorial Board, the JMIG Executive Team, our publishers, and you our readers, a great big thank you, since these are your numbers too!
As we continue to look for ways to enhance your experience, JMIG is constantly reviewing our processes, decisions, strategies, and programs to ensure that you are getting what you want and the quality you deserve. Since our last update, we have advertised and appointed our first Associate Editors, Dr. Siddhi Mathur and Dr. Sadikah Behbehani. These are new roles within the Journal as we bring on committed recruits to learn the editorial ropes. In this new program, our Associate Editors are looking at ways to streamline and enhance the reviewing process to improve things for both author and reviewer. Stay tuned to see more of this as you submit your manuscripts to JMIG or review with the team.
You will have seen more in the JMIG social media marketplace with #JMIGSimSundays added for more bites of our gynecologic specialty. This adds to #JMIGfotoFriday and #JMIGTakeHomeTuesdays. You asked for more on social media and we are delivering, so ensure that you follow on your favorite platform and snack on the very best of JMIG in your scrolling. Pretty soon, every day will be JMIG day and then the week will be perfect! If you are interested in helping to produce this content, please submit an application to become a JMIG Social Media Scholar!
Speaking of bites, our next project is to add ‘Surgical Bites’ to your manuscripts. These are summations of the manuscript for the busy clinician who wants to know about everything, but does not have the time to consume in detail. These will be added to manuscripts in JMIG starting soon and, as always, give us your feedback and tell us if this is working for you.
The AAGL Global Congress in New Orleans is very close now and we look forward to meeting in person and of course hosting the JMIG meeting at the event. This will include introducing our new ‘200 club’ members (and there is hot competition to make sure those getting closer reach their goal by the closing date). As always, we are also on the lookout for the best science to be published in JMIG. In 2023, we initiated a ‘fast track program’ for quality presentations and science to get your work into press and out to the world for all to see. This year, our QR coded team will be out and about scouting for the next best JMIG articles – so make it be yours.
