Collaborative Research in Pelvic Surgery Consortium (CoRPS)
Introduction of CoRPS by AAGL Research Committee Chair, Dr. Lara Harvey
You may have seen the fascinating recent article in JMIG, by Huynh et el. Understanding the Value of the Uterus: A Nationwide Cross-sectional Survey on Women’s Preferences with Benign Gynecological Conditions. This effort was aided by the Collaborative Research in Pelvic Surgery Consortium (CoRPS).
The CoRPS is a group that arose from gynecologic surgeons who envisioned Fellows Pelvic Research Network (FPRN)-like resources for post-GYN fellowship surgeons. Its members are part of AAGL, SGS, and AUGS and their work encompasses numerous benign gynecologic topics.
The AAGL Research Committee would like to present the following introduction to CoRPS in this edition of NewsScope by Dr. Veronica Lerner. We hope it will help spread the word about this resource available to AAGL members.
Also, please look out for the post graduate course: Research Resources: Elevating Gynecologic Science through Funding and Publication at the AAGL Global Congress 2026. Dr. Lerner will be there and discussing CoRPS in more detail. I am very excited to share with you an incredible resource for gynecologic surgery research—the Collaborative Research in Pelvic Surgery Consortium (CoRPS).

Lara Harvey, MD
Dr. Harvey is Chair of the AAGL Research Committee, a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist, and Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
Collaborative Research in Pelvic Surgery Consortium (CoRPS)
CoRPS was founded by former members of the Fellows Pelvic Research Network (FPRN) who sought to continue collaborative, multi-center research after completing their fellowship. Since its founding, the CoRPS has established a permanent home at the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS), and in 2020, a fund was established to support it.
CoRPS is open to both SGS members and non-members, particularly early- and mid-career attendings, who would like to participate in multicenter research across all subspecialties of gynecologic surgery. CoRPS is a working group and supportive community that helps network, collaborate, and thrive among those interested in research in gynecologic surgery. Our mentors are seasoned, experienced, and well-published researchers, and collectively we help each other with ideas, study design, statistical support, and funding opportunities. Our major asset is the ability to conduct studies across different sites quickly. We meet virtually quarterly and in person once a year at the SGS annual meeting in March, and discuss current research projects, recent publications, and brainstorm new proposals.
