Precision, Progress, and the Power of AI: Shaping the Future of Women’s Health

Each year, the content taught at the AAGL Global Congress contributes to the development of the surgeon we will become. I suspect that our future selves will look back to the 2025 Global Congress as a defining moment when our field leaped forward. This year, we will explore the intersection of AI and surgical practice. What is AI, and how does it impact interaction with our patients, our time, outcomes, and complications? This topic is so rapidly evolving that by the time we get to November; we will likely be able to add many more ways it touches our field (and our Scientific Program is accommodating for this as well!). It is revolutionary technology that, for many of us, we are hesitantly dipping our toes into to feel it out.
Without a doubt, this year’s Scientific Program will inspire great conversations. You each are the magic ingredient to success at this event. We need your presence, your insight, your wise counsel, to help us think of the angles others of us have not imagined. With our imaginations stimulated and our minds filled with the best practices of minimally invasive surgery, what innovations will we inspire that will dramatically improve health care for women? Therefore, I wholeheartedly implore you, please join us this year, November 8-11, 2025, at the stunning Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, Canada. Registration is now open and early bird discounted pricing ends September 9, 2025. I encourage you to secure your visa and register today!
The Scientific Program Committee (SPC) began planning for this Global Congress in December 2024 with the launch of the Call for Course Proposals from our membership. We received a record high number of proposals indicating excitement over our theme: Precision, Progress, and the Power of AI: Shaping the Future of Women’s Health. The SPC then had the challenging task of narrowing down these proposals and securing content that would stretch both the young and seasoned surgeon alike, affirm best practices, inspire through innovation, and guide attendees on the latest advancements in our field. Generated by hundreds of brilliant AAGL members (now faculty), this glorious culmination of expertise gave birth to our Scientific Program.
The information packed 2025 Scientific Program features 25 Didactic Postgraduate (PG) Courses, 5 PG Labs, 7 Surgical Tutorials, 3 Debates, and 17 Panels – including a Patient Education Panel and 6 Panels led by our Affiliated Society Partners. In addition, 5 inspiring MedTalks will punctuate our 5 General Sessions – kicking off with Opening Ceremony on Sunday, November 9th, at 3:45pm PDT. Oral and Video sessions, along with Virtual Posters, are now being selected through the meticulous grading process of the 826 abstracts (87 more than in 2024!) that were submitted. Of these abstracts, approximately 200 will be accepted for presentation in an Oral or Video Session and 200 will become Virtual Posters featured in the Exhibit Hall. The enormous amount of content submitted gave the SPC the opportunity to select the most innovative and scientifically relevant courses for this exceptional program.
The AAGL, a pioneer known as the OI (Original Innovators), has always pushed the boundaries of what was thought to be reckless or unachievable. Unlike the Latin saying “non plus ultra – there is nothing beyond,” which warned ancient sailors from venturing past the rock of Gibraltar, we have ventured into the world of minimally invasive surgery, making significant progress in gynecology, surgery, and medicine as a whole. This new frontier of AI is our next challenge, and we will face it together.
I look forward to seeing you in Vancouver!
