CanSAGE – Canadian Society for the Advancement of Gynecologic Excellence
The Canadian Society for the Advancement of Gynecologic Excellence (CanSAGE) was first formed in 2015 and the first national meeting of CanSAGE was held in Toronto in September 2016. The society was officially incorporated in 2017, and the current president is Dr. John Thiel.
The mission of the Canadian Society for the Advancement of Gynecologic Excellence is to promote and maintain high standards of excellence in the diagnosis and management of complex gynecologic conditions. The society is committed to ensuring quality education, providing a national forum to promote clinical and basic research, and promoting improved ways to deliver quality patient care.
CanSAGE currently has approximately 200 members including residents, fellows and gynecologists with a range of expertise in minimally invasive gynecology. Their society seeks to be the place to find answers and to improve MIS skills, whether one is a novice or an expert. CanSAGE is also taking a leadership role in the design of the objectives and curriculum that is offered in the 14 MIS fellowships currently available in Canada. CanSAGE is excited to be hosting the Fourth Annual National Congress September 26-28, 2019 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
CanSAGE members have access to the website (cansage.org) as well as a national listserv group. The highlight for the society has been the national meeting which has a particular enthusiasm and energy that one attendee last year likened to the first few AAGL meetings. CanSAGE has been fortunate to have the support of AAGL in as the society grows. CanSAGE is excited about the continued growth projections in Canada as it becomes the national home for MIS expertise. CanSAGE looks forward to continuing to build relationships with the AAGL’s leadership and members and other national societies, offering a source for education, scholarship, collegiality and technical expertise in Minimally Invasive Gynecology across Canada.
